'And Just Like That,' Patti LuPone Joins the Cast for Season 3!

Broadway legend (and star of the recent "Agatha All Along" TV series) Patti LuPone joins Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Seema (Sarita Choudhury), and Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) as "And Just Like That..." returns for Season 3, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Just as thrilling is news that hot Italian character Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi), the new boyfriend of gay character Anthony (Mario Cantone), will now be part of the regular cast.
Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the show as well as its predecessor, "Sex and the City," discussed adding LuPone to the show, saying that the Broadway icon won't simply have a walk-through role but will be on the series for "an arc" – though exactly who her character is remains under wraps.
LuPone's new character, along with Pigazzi's bigger role, will help make up for the exit of controversial nonbinary standup comedian Che Diaz (played by Sara Ramirez), whose run on the show ended after Che and Miranda broke up. Che divided the show's fans, in part for having embarked on an affair with Miranda that ended her marriage to fan-favorite male character Steve (David Eigenberg).
Another character who won't be back for the new season is Nya Wallis (Karen Pittman), EW noted, detailing that Pittman is busy with two other series – "Forever" on Netflix and "The Morning Show" on Apple TV+.
Also helping to round out the new season: Dolly Wells as Joy, a potential new flame for Miranda, will now be a series regular, while Rosemary DeWitt, who cameoed in Season 2 as Kathy, the ex of Carrie's onetime flame Aidan (John Corbett), will have a recurring presence. Though Aidan and Carrie rekindled their relationship in the wake of Carrie's husband, Big (Chris Noth), dying at the start of Season 1, Aidan stepped away from the relationship at the end of Season 2 to focus on his teenage sons.
There's no word on whether Aidan himself will be back this year, though Kathy could make for an interesting proxy.
One character who is definitely not returning is Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), who was part of the original "SATC" quartet. Though Cattrall did make a cameo appearance in Season 2 as a gift to fans, she has stated that she won't be returning to the show.
"Our show has already so many characters," King told EW. "There are five women right now on the show, and each of them has a world. Some of them have husbands, some of them have children, some of those children even have relationships. So it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger."
