On Saturday, February 27, The Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. will host its annual Men's Health Forum -- Healing for the Mind, Body, and Spirit, which will address health issues that affect African American men and other men of color. The event will be held at the historic St. Luke A.M.E. Church located at 1854 Amsterdam Ave. in New York. The program begins at 1:00 p.m.; lunch to follow.

"There are a number of silent killers that plague the African American community. Many can be prevented through early detection," says Dr. Ted Ingram, Chapter President. "Our hope is to educate the community and possibly save lives through our health forum."

The Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., (also known as "The Wall Street Alphas") is known for their commitment to service within underserved communities throughout the New York metropolitan area. The Chapter has gained national attention for their mentoring program, the Alpha G.E.N.T.S. (Gaining Essential Networking Tools for Success), which mentors high school males of color between the ages of 14-18 and prepares them for college life.

According to WebMD, the five biggest killers of men are heart disease, stroke, suicide, prostate cancer, and lung cancer. Among African-American men these fatalities are all exponentially higher. The event will focus on these issues as well as diabetes and HIV/AIDS prevention.

The Wall Street Alphas have partnered with The Alpha Gamma Lambda ("The Harlem Alphas") and the Zeta Eta (NYC undergraduate) chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Outreach Ministries of the St. Luke A.M.E. Church as event cosponsor in an attempt to spread awareness to the entire Harlem community. The event is free to the public and will have free testing, along with giveaways.

The Forum will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27 at the St. Luke A.M.E Church -- Administration Building, 1854 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10031. For information, call 212-870-1349 or visit http://www.wallstreetalphas.com/.
