GMHC and Randy Fenoli Host 'Thanks & Giving' Fundraiser

On Thursday, November 6, Gay Men's Health Crisis and guest host Randy Fenoli from TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress" will host "Thanks & Giving," an event to raise essential funds for GMHC's nutritional programs, which will allow the organization to continue serving over 90,000 hot and nutritious meals annually to thousands of men, women and families living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.

"We are thrilled that Randy will be joining us as the guest host of 'Thanks & Giving.' The mission of Randy's work is to 'educate, elevate and empower,' which is what we do each day through our life-sustaining care services, HIV testing and prevention programs, and public policy advocacy," said GMHC CEO Kelsey Louie.

GMHC's lunches and dinners are not only delicious and elegant; they also alleviate hunger, create comfort and arrest people's fears about being hungry. In addition to GMHC's Meals Program, their Keith Haring Food Pantry Program provides nutritional counseling and also distributes hundreds of food packages per month which are specifically tailored to meet the unique nutritional needs of HIV-positive individuals. If a GMHC client runs out of food, they are able to provide an emergency food package.

"I am truly honored to be the host of Thanks & Giving," said Fenoli. "Each year, GMHC helps thousands of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. GMHC restores hope for many people who feel like it is lost forever. That is why we need to show our support. I am also not a stranger to this important organization. I had the pleasure of creating a team for AIDS Walk New York earlier this year, which benefits GMHC. "

Today as the star of TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress," "Big Bliss," "Randy Knows Best" and "Randy to the Rescue." Fenoli is seen by millions of viewers each week. On "Randy to the Rescue," he travels the country with a semi truck filled with wedding gowns and accessories helping brides find their dream wedding dress at his ultimate pop up bridal salon. Fenoli selects three lucky brides who have said "Yes" to their dress and then, with the help of a hairstylist and makeup artist, transforms these brides from "head to hem" and presents each with a "bridal blueprint" for her wedding day. With a philosophy that no matter what her size, age or shape, every woman is beautiful, Fenoli seems able to overcome any challenge.

GMHC's food programs increase access to food. These services are critical because basic nutrition is one of the cornerstones of maintaining the health of people living with HIV and AIDS, ensuring that they are able to lead long, productive lives. Proper nutrition and meals are also vital for those on HIV medication. Because 78 percent of GMHC's clients are living at or below the poverty threshold, they struggle with limited resources. GMHC believes clients should not have to choose between medication and meals.
