Who Wants Klandy?: Anti-Gay Klan Sect Recruiting With Sweets
Bobby McGuire READ TIME: 2 MIN.
If ever there was a good reason not to take candy from strangers, this is it.
The Associated Press reports residents in northwestern South Carolina say they found bags in their driveways last weekend that contained an assortment of candy along with a flyer advertising membership in the Ku Klux Klan that read "Save Our Land, Join The Klan."
The flyer points to a sect of the Klan's website address that has the following greeting on the homepage:
Greetings , I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and hopefully dispel some of the lies told about us by the liberal news media. Let me start by addressing the repeated falsehood that we are a "HATE GROUP". Let me assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. We do not hate any group of people. However, we do hate some things that certain groups are doing to our race and Nation. We hate drugs, homosexuality, abortion, and race-mixing because these things go against God's law and they are destroying all white nations.
According to FOX Carolina, the Klan's current target appears to be illegal immigrants. A voicemail message for the "Klan Hotline" phone number that is printed on the fliers starts with: "Be a man join the Klan! Illegal immigration is destroying America." The message then goes on to discuss immigration concerns and ends with, "always remember if it ain't white, it ain't right. White power."
According to Robert Jones, the Imperial Kaliff of the Klan sect the Loyal White Knights, who spoke with FOX Carolina, the candy drop was part of their national night ride recruitment efforts. Jones claims that specific houses aren't targeted in these "rides."
"I mean, we can't tell who lives in a house, whether they're black, white, Mexican, gay, we can't tell that," said Jones. "And if you were to look at somebody's house like that, that means you'd be pretty much a racist."
Racism is something that Jones is very well acquainted with first-hand. In April, UPI reported on a rift from within the Klan where Jones took on Frank Acona, the leader of fa rival sect.
"Frank Ancona is also Jewish and his wife is Jewish," Jones said. "And he's being exposed all through the Klan world as a fake and he ain't even white and you can actually look his family tree up which we've got his family tree which we can give y'all too and you can post it."
Jones says his chapter is planning a public protest, against illegal immigration in North Carolina on August 9, with a cross burning after dark.
