WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is thanking friends and colleagues who he says have supported and guided his administration on same-sex issues and equality policies.

Obama recognized influential figures in his life, including an old college professor, who he says have helped shape how he thinks about many of these issues, as he marked Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month at a White House reception Monday.

The president thanked the "Crustmaster," or White House pastry chef Bill Yosses, who was joined by his husband. Obama said his pies are so addictive that he didn't know what Yosses does, "whether he puts crack in them" or something - as the crowd laughed.

Despite tremendous progress in society, Obama said work remains, such as passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
