Oklahoma Tea Party Candidate Endorses Stoning Gays

Stoning; it's not just for Brunei anymore.

Local Oklahoma news site, Moore Monthly, discovered that Scott Esk, a conservative Christian Tea Party candidate running for the state House of Representatives, who professes to be pro-life, pro-gun and pro-family, is also pro-stoning gay people to death.

Oklahoma news channel KFOR reports that Rob Morris of Moore Monthly discovered Esk's extremist views while researching political candidates, trying to put together information for the public. A friend tipped Morris to Esk, which lead him to dig into the candidate's Facebook posts.

"This guy posted on Facebook that homosexuals should be stoned to death." Morris said. "My first response was you're nuts, nobody would be stupid enough to do that."

Esk's comments came in response to an article posted on the social media site about Pope Francis' now famous "who am I to judge" quote about gay people.

Esk quoted Romans 1 and Leviticus 20 to which Facebook user Adam Bates replied:

So, just to be clear, you think we should execute homosexuals (presumably by stoning)? And to think people are worried about the Muslims taking over haha

Esk responded:

I think we would be totally in the right to do it. That goes against some parts of libertarianism, I realize, and I'm largely libertarian, but ignoring as a nation things that are worthy of death is very remiss.

When asked in an interview by Morris to clarify his comments, Esk said, "What I will tell you right now is that was done in the old testament under a law that came directly from God. And in that time, it was totally just, it came directly from God. I have no plans to, you know, reinstitute that in Oklahoma law. I do have some very huge moral misgivings about those kinds of sins."

Firebrand Progressives did their own research on Esk and uncovered this Facebook entry from the candidate:

... "if we don't start killing off homosexuals that God may send a series of 'calamities' to nations who do not." So, in other words, every time there is a natural disaster, Esk has given himself the right to claim that it's because we don't follow an Old Testament Bible verse and stone gays and lesbians to death.
