Preparing for B.A.R. founding publisher’s plaque

BAR Staff READ TIME: 1 MIN.

As part of the Rainbow Honor Walk in San Francisco’s LGBTQ Castro neighborhood, Peter McDowell from Associated Builders marked the sidewalk at 18th and Castro streets for a plaque honoring the late Bob Ross, founding publisher of the Bay Area Reporter. The October 18 preliminary work will be followed by the installation of the plaque and an unveiling ceremony. The location of the Ross plaque is down the street from where he once lived, at 4200 20th Street, which is expected to be designated a city landmark.

Ross is one of several late LGBTQ luminaries who will soon have plaques installed as the board overseeing the honor walk works to further its task, as the B.A.R. recently reported.
