A federal grand jury has indicted a North Texas man on kidnapping and hate crime counts after authorities say he severely beat a gay man he met through an online service.
The two-count indictment Thursday alleges 19-year-old Brice Johnson abducted and beat the man identified in court documents only as "A.K."
According to an affidavit, on Sept. 2, 2013, Armstrong invited the victim via social media to his home in Springtown, about 25 miles northwest of Fort Worth.
The affidavit alleges Johnson beat him because of his sexual orientation and threw him in his car trunk. A.K. was hospitalized for 10 days with multiple skull and facial fractures.
Johnson remains in Parker County Jail in Weatherford without bond. Defense attorney Warren St. John says his client will plead not guilty.
