Police: gay porn actor sent murdered man's body parts to politician

The case of a torso being discovered in a Montreal neighborhood and body parts being delivered using the Canadian mail service widened on Wednesday when Montreal police identified a suspect in the case -- Luka Rocco Magnotta.

"Magnotta, 29, who also goes by the aliases Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov, is allegedly a former stripper and porn star with multiple websites depicting him in various photo spreads", the Ottawa Citizen reported this afternoon.

"Montreal police have obtained a videotape of the killing, according to the Montreal Gazette," the report continued.

"The torso was discovered Tuesday morning, shortly before a senior staffer at the Conservative Party of Canada office in Ottawa partially opened a brown-papered package, which was later found to contain a severed left foot.

"Police tracked a second package, which contained a hand, to the Ottawa Postal Terminal and stopped its delivery later Tuesday night. That package was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada.

"Meanwhile, the Montreal police focused their attention on a second-floor apartment in the neighbourhood of Snowdon, located near the alley where the torso was found decomposing in a suitcase on the curb with a pile of garbage."

The National Post, another Canadian publication, reported that "a low-income apartment complex in Montreal on Wednesday became the epicentre of an investigation into the shocking case.

"Police in masks had been combing through an apartment in the mid-rise brick building, zeroing in on one particular unit from which a rotten stench is drifting out, says a building resident.

"The neighbour says police are showing people pictures of one man, while also asking questions about the unit's resident and about his possible connections.

"Police said earlier in the day the suspect and victim knew each other, and that the case wasn't the result of organized crime."

The website Digital Journal reported that "Montreal Police are seeking the public's help in locating Magnotta, who may also go by the names Eric Clinton, Kirk Newman or Vladimir Romanov."
